Morning, Jesus and the Disinherited II, IV (Jesus and the Disinherited) [Side B], 1976 Feb 28

Description

In this commentary and conversation on Jesus and the Disinherited, Thurman states that to be part of the brotherhood of man one has to be a believer of Christ, which a person becomes once they believe. Christians have a way to clean themselves of impurities, or in other words, have a permanently saved soul. Thurman speaks to Jesus’ definition of brotherhood and the fact that it will destroy civilizations because it’s different from the natural brotherhood that human societies have created between men. He states that if one wants to be brothers with someone, he has to convert him to Christ, which is the basis of evangelizing the world. Humans have to save those in need for God’s sake. Thurman also discusses the struggles of contemporary life and how to affirm one's own sense of way in the world. One can do so through meeting rare people to affirm and communicate with, but also through meditation and the listening of silence. Finally, he discusses his research of fascism in religious organizations, and how religion shaped their creation.
