Description
Thurman continues this lecture by discussing the fact that we cannot kill life, and it is arrogant to think that we can kill anything. Thurman tells how he is a time binder and a space binder which means that he can function freely outside of any time interval he might be in, and that death is an aspect of his space binding personality. Thurman describes how there is dimension to his personality that is rooted in the aliveness of life and cannot die. Then he tells how the struggle with humility is a life long struggle. Thurman then spends the majority of the lecture discussing death and reality. There is no reality in death. Death is a stranger to everyone, but growing up death was normalized to him, and he knows that he will be conscious of his dying. Thurman then tells an anecdote of when he was an assistant to a minister at First Baptist Church, and went to visit a dying man in the hospital. When this man died Thurman describes how his time binder and space binder aspects flowed together. Thurman concludes by stating that any human that lives in touch with reality can never be surprised, and that there is no reality that can be hidden from reality.
